TGIF...

right? The morning started off kinda rocky, Hannah didn't want to get out of bed and I finally had to threaten her if she didn't get her hiney out of bed and get dressed, then Cameron started messing with her and she screamed at him, ran to her room, cried, and I honestly felt like running out of the house and running down the street for some fresh air!! but I didn't I just did a little jig once they got out of the car this morning at school, hehe!! :)

As I said yesterday we have family coming in for the MS race in the a.m. and I have been getting the house "company ready", yesterday was a nice day, went for a walk, baked some cookies, and let me tell ya they are soo yummy, it's a new recipe I got for snickerdoodles and they are a winner!! for dinner tonight I am going to cook some pinto beans in the crockpot and use the ham bone from our Easter ham, I am already hungry for them, and roasted chicken, some cornbread and of course cookies for dessert, so that's the plan!!

Happy Friday!

This n that

Good morning! I have been a bad blogger the past few days, been busy with my daycare kids and then with mine once they get home from school. It's warm this a.m. already 70 with a high of 84, my son was excited to wear shorts, sister didn't want to though. My mother is coming in town tomorrow because we have the MS race on Saturday, so we are looking forward to mimi and papa Wayne coming to our house!! My husband has been out of town on business this week so we are ready for him to come home tomorrow, we miss our daddy when he's gone!!

I am going to do a little "movie critiquing" for ya! We have Blockbuster online such a handy thing, anyway, last week we watched Snow Buddies, loved it, precious, kids loved it, I could watch it again, last night we watched Underdog, first of all we have a beagle so we're predjudice, anyway, I thought is was "okay" there were some funny parts, but the most important thing, the kids loved it, they laughed out loud the whole movie, and really that's all that matters is that they like it, I just don't want to sit through it again!! hehe!!

I have to go grocery shopping today, one of those buy the whole store trips, load the SUV down! and get the house in shape for company, anyway, have a good day!

the Holiday

I just love this movie, I cannot express to you how much I adore this movie. I first saw it after it came out on video, then I bought it on black Friday this past year for $3.00 at Target!!! yeah!! what a deal, anyway, I have literally watched it once a week since I have had it, I love the music, the characters, the storyline, I am now "quoting" and I trust me I don't "quote" that's my husbands job (Jaws, Shawshank Redemption)... anyway, now that you understand the depth of my obvious obsession with this movie maybe you'll go and rent it if you haven't seen it already, okay that's it, have a good Saturday night, back to my wine!! talk to you Monday!!

Happy Friday...

the weather is nice, we get to spend time with my in-laws tomorrow, do a little yard work, well by husband is and I am shopping!! yeah baby!! I have done my inside chores and the yard is all his, I don't mind helping, but tomorrow I need some "alone time", and plus the kids love to help daddy in the yard, so everyone will be happy!! I need to finish up some Easter shopping, get the kids baskets started, new shoes, shirts, things like that... maybe sneak into Starbucks and have a french vanilla latte, yum, yum. Moms, make sure you get some "me" time also, makes us better people!!!

happy weekend,

I am really trying

to run away from housecleaning but it won't stop chasing me, help help!!! all I do is clean, do laundry... you ladies know what I mean, someone make it stop for goodness sakes! when I think I have made great strides in my chores, I look around and there is something else, my son is super messy and he cleaned or should I say "gutted" his room last night and brought me a bunch of glasses and plates from his room, oh, okay, that's scary how long have they been there??? and he gives me his laundry basket, oh good, he seems to have found some missing clothes in that little pit of his, I was wondering where those items were, as my dad used to tell my messy sister growing up "I think I saw a little pig run out of your room with some undies on his head", haha!! When my son was in K they were doing a mother's day project and it was one of those where they ask the kids questions about mom and they write exactly what the child tells them and one of the questions was "what does your mom really like to do"? and the little guy said "clean the house", at first I'm thinking I don't enjoy it but if he thinks I do then that's okay, after all doing these things is a way of letting my family know how much I love them and want them to have a nice home. Don't get me wrong, with all the "cleaning" talk, just because I feel I am always doing it does not mean it always looks that way!!

Well, I better get, I need to clean a bathroom and take some laundry out of the dryer, see I told you I can't get away from it!!! hehe!!

Blah, blah, blah...

that's me so far today, first of all I do not like daylight savings time, I know alot of people love the extra long days, not a fan. First of all, we're all tired at my house, my clock is off, my kids can't go to sleep or wake up! my daughter said yesterday morning, "why do we have to get up so early"???? I'm like your not it's the time change, as if that matters to her, she's tired!! last night at 9:30 my son comes fumbling into the kitchen for a snack, I'm like excuse me what are you doing??? I'll get used to it, I always do, have to. Okay, I'm sure you've had enough of me today, boo, hiss, gripe, gripe...

Cinnamon Muffins

I wanted to share this simple muffin recipe with you, my kids love cinnamon toast, cinnamon sugar on waffles and when I found this recipe I knew it was keeper.

1/3 cup shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 c. milk

Topping:
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 tblspoons. melted butter or marg.

Cream the shortening and sugar, add egg; beat well. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg; add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk and mix well. Fill greased muffin tins half full. Bake at 350 for 15-20 or until toothpick comes out clean. After you remove from oven brush the melted butter on right away and sprinkle with the cinn/sugar mixture, I have found that doing this when they are hot helps to soak in the butter and the cinn/sug. mixture and it leaves you with a very moist tasty muffin!!! Enjoy!!

Special month

March is MS (multiple sclerosis) Awareness Month, I live with this disease. I was diagnosed in April 2006, for those of you who don't know me I am doing great, I give myself a shot once a day and have an MRI once a year and the one I had in December showed I had no new leisons, so my shots are helping! I know our Subway Sandwich Shops sell a MS cup this month and the proceeds go to the MS Society, so if you can get one!! My family and I do a 5k every year to help raise $$ to fight this devastating disease, so we're gearing up for the challenge!!
We woke up to beautiful snow this morning, what a wonderful treat!!

Have a great day!

it's the little things...

a happy weekend with my little family, my kids laughter, a cup of coffee, being in church on Sunday morning thanking God for his many undeserving blessings, raising kids with my husband, I am so glad he is the man he is, waking up from a good Sunday nap and asking my husband if he would make that soup he made when I had the flu and he threw it together just perfect, (yummy, yummy) sitting on the couch reading my cookbooks, baking, laying in bed with a great book, and days like today, in the 30's rainy, chance of snow later and I am thinking of something great to make for dinner that will warm my gang up!

count your many blessings...
